My kitchen pantry was full of items and snacks no one ate. We bought so many products because they were impulse buys. Im sure we are all guilty of this.
But recently, I challenged myself and my family to eat clean and well. That meant we didn’t buy processed snacks like cookies, cereals, chips, chocolates, crackers, and a majority of canned items. Anything with high sugar and salt needed to be off the grocery list. I wanted to only have raw ingredients and make most things from scratch.
We stuck to items that were long lasting, easy to use, and mostly used. Prices are always fluctuating for produce, but we tend to shop for produce at Sprouts Farmers Markets and Trader Joes. When we need a bulk amount of produce, we opt for Costco, since they’re amounts are larger and sometimes cheaper.
We purchase our meats from smaller butcher shops close to our home, and we feel better knowing where it’s sourced from and we can get them to cut the meat into cubes or slices!
Our budget went from $300 (for two) to $150. We had enough room to purchase extra items if necessary, extra food items like fish or pastries.
So take a look at the list!
